DAY 1: Stage Directions
1.) Discussed that in the next part of our unit, we will be focusing on WHERE dramatic stories are performed and HOW to "tell" great stories on stage.
-
If you were absent last class: Be sure to learn about the different types of stages ("KP's Theatre Class - Types of Stages) and take notes in Google Classroom - "Acting CLASS NOTES").
-
Observed & discussed various photos from shows staged in the OHS Black Box Theatre and discussed/analyzed each.
2.) Answered a prompt in Google Classroom - PROCESS Journal; Title: Our Class Environment
-
What kind of ENVIRONMENT do you want for this performance-based class? What qualities/things would help you better learn and take creative risks?
-
(Think about teacher, others, and self.)
3.) Watched a video ("KP's Theatre Class - Stage Directions") and took notes in Google Classroom "Acting CLASS NOTES" Journal. (If absent, be sure to watch up to 3:28 and take notes before returning to class...PAUSE video as needed for your notes.)
4.) Practiced stage directions during a teacher-led class activity (as learned about in last class's video ("KP's Theatre Class - Stage Directions")
5.) Ms. Price introduced the concept of "showing more than you tell" and "creating believability" with your acting choices.
6.) Participated in Partner Pantomime/Believability activities (led by Ms. Price).
-
Pantomime = acting without props (as though the prop was really there)
7.) Received next partner/acting scene prompt: Stage Directions Scene (which can be found in Google Classroom). Students partnered up and tried stage directions with a partner. (Will work on developing scenes tomorrow.)
DAY 2: Rehearsal (Stage Directions Scene)
1.) Reviewed stage directions.
2.) Reviewed next partner/acting scene prompt: Stage Directions Scene (which can be found in Google Classroom)
3.) Collaborated with a class partner to create a creative/believable scene, using creative-thinking techniques previously taught in class.
4.) Rehearsed Stage Directions scenes/concepts with a partner.
5.) Partners tried the 5 Why's technique with their created scene concept.
6.) Completed Reflection #2 in Google Classroom. (If absent, you can't do unless or until you create a scene with a partner.)
DAY 3: Performance (Stage Directions Scene)
1.) Finished rehearsing Stage Directions scenes (which can be found in Google Classroom)
2.) Performed Stage Directions scenes and received class feedback. Note: Be sure you've written your class feedback on your REFLECTION #2 (Stage Directions Scene) in Google Classroom and submit your Reflection #2.
3.) Discussed "growth grading" and how your first acting projects are scored, graded, and recorded. (If absent, be sure to ask Ms. Price about this when you return.)
4.) Learned about additional stage directions terms/techniques by watching a video ("KP's Theatre Class - Stage Directions") and taking notes in Google Classroom "Acting CLASS NOTES" Journal. (If absent, be sure to watch 0:00-3:28 and take notes before returning to class...PAUSE video as needed for your notes.)
DAY 4: Motivated Movement
