Acting:  Week 5

(February 22-26, 2021)

Important terms are in RED.

Google Classroom assignments are in BLUE.

If ABSENT, you are REQUIRED to read / understand / do all activities posted for that day, even if it's not an "assignment".  

DAY 2:

1.)  Discussed what makes something "believable".

2.) Reviewed ALICE training (and practiced with door locks).

3.) Rehearsed ideas and scenes (Stage Directions Scene) with a focus on "Thinking Creatively" (IB Criterion C).

4.)  Explored depth of ideas by participating in "5 Why's" creative thinking strategy with scene/partner.  (Google Classroom Process Journal - Title:  "Stage Directions Scene:  Concept & Whys")

5.) Partnered with another group and shared scene concept (or acted out scene) with/for partner group...with the goal of getting "3 great questions" from the other group.  (Google Classroom Process Journal - Title:  "Stage Directions Scene:  Collaboration" - List the 3 great questions given.)

6.) Reflected on PROCESS and ARTISTIC INTENTION by completing "Reflection - Stage Directions Scene" in Google Classroom.  (Answer first 3 questions.)

HOMEWORK:  You will perform your Stage Directions Scene NEXT class.  Please be prepared.  (Also, be sure you've completed questions 1-3 on your Reflection prior to next class.)  You may want to review the RUBRIC for this acting project.  Remember...you're graded on IDEAS, so work on your creative thinking strategies.

DAY 1:

1.)  Rehearsed scenes (Stage Directions scene) and reviewed RUBRIC.

2.)  Completed  "Reflection - Stage Directions Scene" in Google Classroom.  (Answer first 3 questions.)

3.) Performed Stage Directions scenes and received class feedback.  (Note:  Be sure you've written your feedback on your Reflection #2 in Google Classroom)

4.) Reviewed Stage Directions as a class.

5.) Watched a video ("KP's Theatre Class - Stage Directions" (from 3:58 to the end) and took notes in Google Classroom "Acting Class Notes" Journal.  

6.) Practiced terms given in the video with a partner (open, closed, share, give, take, cover, upstage, etc.) and also practiced Body Positions on stage.

7.) Participated in Motivated Movement activities (led by Ms. Price).

8.) Discussed how "motivated movement" impacts believability in a scene.

HOMEWORK:  You will have a Unit Test in THREE classes on the concepts and terms given in the following videos (for which you took notes):  Types of Stages, Stage Directions, Stage Terms (we will watch Stage Terms next class)

DAY 2:

1.)  Reviewed:  You will have a Unit Test in TWO classes on the concepts and terms given in the following videos (for which you took notes):  Types of Stages, Stage Directions, Stage Terms (Note:  Next week is a different schedule.  Your test will be on FRIDAY, 1st hour.)

2.)  Reflected on personal growth so far in Acting.  Students watched videos of each of their 3 performances so far in class.  (In our Google Classroom drive, find your 3 performance videos, and watch them in order then complete the "Personal Growth Reflection" in Google Classroom.  Submit when finished.

3.) Completed the final two questions on Reflection #2 in Google Classroom.  (This reflection is for your Stage Directions Scene performance.)

4.) Re-visited the term "motivated movement" and what it means when Acting.

5.) Participated in developing ideas for a new "Open-Ended Scene" (found in Google Classroom).  Focused on ways to show "motivated movement" while rehearsing scenes introduced by Ms. Price.

6.) Decided which of today's 3 scenes each set of partners want to perform for a grade.

7.) Journaled about 5 specific ways to IMPROVE partners' open-ended scenes.  (Title:  "5 ways to improve my open-ended scene")

8.) Completed Reflection #3 in Google Classsroom (questions 1-3).

9.) Watched a video:  "KP's Theatre Class - Stage Terms" and took notes in Google Classroom "Acting Class Notes" Journal.   

HOMEWORK:  You will have a Unit Test in TWO classes on the concepts and terms given in the following videos (for which you took notes):  Types of Stages, Stage Directions, Stage Terms.  This is the only test in Acting class, so be sure you study.
